Hermannsburg - 1

Hermannsburg was the first Aboriginal Mission in the Northern Territory (about 125Klms west of Alice Springs in the MacDonnell Ranges). It was established in 1877 on the traditional lands of the Western Aranda people. It was abandoned by its founders in 1891, but 3 yeras later was purchased by Immanual Synod of SA. This branch of the church operated for 88 years until 1982 until teh Mission land was restored to the traditional Aranda owners. The restoration of the historic buildings started in 1987.....
